Ladysmith Black Mambazo is the smash South African a cappella singing sensation that Paul Simon introduced to the world on his Graceland album. They've been touring the world ever since, picking up international awards. In 1993, at Nelson Mandela's request, Ladysmith Black Mambazo accompanied the future President to the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway. Mambazo sang again at President Mandela's inauguration in May of 1994. They are a national treasure of the new South Africa in part because they embody the traditions suppressed in the old South Africa.
The Irish Tenors - Anthony Kearns, Finbar Wright, and Karl Scully - will perform with the Utica Symphony Orchestra. The Irish Tenors are gifted interpreters of a wide range of material, with such songs as "My Heart Will Go On", Fairytale Of New York" and even Jimmy Kennedy's "South Of The Border". These songs live comfortably in their repertoire alongside "Danny Boy", "My Wild Irish Rose", and "Fields Of Athenry". The Irish Tenors tour constantly, thrilling old fans and winning new ones all around the globe. In the United States, they are one of the most successful Irish touring acts ever, second only to U2.
Direct from Broadway, "Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy" is an exotic encounter inspired by nature's unpredictable creations that are brought to life by an international cast of 25 soaring aerialists, spine-bending contortionists, acrobats, jugglers and musicians. The astounding feats performed in this action packed Cirque Dream are enhanced with over 150 spectacular costumes and set in a fantastical jungle ignited by striking visual effects. From the breathtaking aerial ballet of butterflies to the balancing giraffes, gigantic flowers and trees, this world-class explosion of athleticism, theatre and imagination will exhilarate and entertain audiences of all ages.
The 2009 Stanley World Stage series ends on April 17 with the bluesy, rockabilly, jazzy and Latin Los Lobos. Even though it's a couple of weeks early, Stanley patrons will celebrate the flavor of Cinco de Mayo with the roots band.
Tickets for all events are now on sale at the Stanley Ticket Office, (315) 724-4000. Let it Show! Packages are available at the Stanley Ticket office only. Single tickets may also be purchased online at www.StanleyTheatre.net.
